Chloe led the final vote count 1,522-635 (71%-29%), making this the most participated-in championship round March Meowdness has ever seen. The final story poll had a staggering # of views with 18,836.
While last year’s final came down to just three votes, this matchup told a very different story.

If March Meowdness mirrored college basketball, Chloe’s run would resemble one of the sport’s true blue blood programs — think schools like Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Kansas, Indiana, or UConn — programs backed by massive alumni bases, historic success, and fan communities that show up when it matters most.
Chloe’s victory wasn’t an overnight success story. A tournament participant since 2021, she steadily built momentum year after year, with her previous best finish coming in the Sweet 16 in 2023. This season, experience, community support, and relentless engagement finally aligned for a championship breakthrough.
A tripod, cancer survivor, and now champion at 20 years old, Chloe’s story resonated deeply across the catfluencer community, turning her title run into one of the most celebrated journeys in tournament history.

On the other side of the bracket, Pickles delivered one of the most impressive first appearances March Meowdness has seen.
In his tournament debut, Pickles powered through the field all the way to the championship round, fueled by hilarious videos, strong audience engagement, and widespread community backing. As the tournament progressed, many eliminated competitors rallied behind Pickles, creating a wave of support that carried him deep into March.
While the championship ultimately belonged to Chloe, Pickles’ breakout performance instantly established him as a future contender to watch — and we fully expect to see him back in the bracket next year.
A Historic Tournament
With Chloe’s victory, March Meowdness continues one of its most unique traditions: for the sixth consecutive year, a single cat claims the Catfluence Cup, as duo+ accounts still search for their first championship win.

Much like real-life March Madness this year, the chaos of early-round upsets eventually gave way to the top seeds standing tall. Some fans have expressed frustration that NIL money has made college basketball more predictable — and while there are definitely no NIL deals, contracts, or payouts in March Meowdness (not yet, atleast), the 2026 bracket followed a similar “chalk-heavy” path as the strongest contenders rose to the top through pure community support and campaigning.
Another big development this round: Instagram restored full poll vote visibility, meaning we once again have complete voting totals instead of just percentages — giving fans a clearer look at just how competitive these matchups were.
Region 1 & 3:
#1 @chloetheserval (815k) defeated remaining tournament Cinderella #9 @freddietheorange (3.2k), ending one of the most memorable underdog runs of 2026. In a classic David vs. Goliath matchup, the heavyweight ultimately advanced, though Freddie proved they belonged on the big stage after an incredible climb through the bracket.

This round brought a major change to how results are reported. Instagram has removed the ability to view exact poll vote totals and voter lists, meaning we can no longer share precise vote counts moving forward — only voting percentages.
Even without exact numbers, one thing is clear: the competition is getting tighter as we move closer to crowning the 2026 Catfluence Cup champion.
One notable point is that all 3 remaining Ragdoll cat accounts, including Ellie, Lubert, and Quiche & Lizzie, all took L’s this round and have been eliminated from the tournament.
Region 1:
#1 @chloetheserval (815k) defeated #4 @elliemcat (15k) with 66% of the vote, in a matchup that drew massive engagement — their poll story alone was viewed 11,475 times.
#6 @peachestheporchkitty (10.5k) advanced past #15 @hopper_tabby (160), the highest remaining seed entering the round, with a 57%–43% victory. Hopper put up a valiant fight, but Peaches’ creative campaigning — including hilarious cheese-themed posts and stories — ultimately gave them the edge.

#2 @maitiethecat (69.8k) — the beloved one-eyed cat — narrowly edged past #11 @tj_and_logan (1.5k) with 53% of the vote, ending the impressive Cinderella run of the two orange boys.
Region 2:
#9 @milo_bartholomewl (3.9k) secured a decisive victory over #12 @lubert.the.ragdoll (1k), earning 68% of the votes and continuing one of the tournament’s strongest Cinderella runs.
#2 @wesandsadie (63.4k) keep their championship hopes alive with 57% of the votes over #11 @sonnyslegendarytailsofthesees (1.7k). Sonny delivered some incredible and hilarious AI cat basketball content and mounted an impressive push — an effort we definitely appreciate — but Wes & Sadie’s momentum proved too strong as they continue their quest to return to the finals.

Region 1:
The top seed wasted no time making a statement.

One of the closest matchups of the round came between #9 @princessbubblegum_ofmiami (4.8k) and #8 @elliot.and.olivia (5k) — with Princess Bubblegum advancing by just ONE vote, 211–210, in an instant March Meowdness classic.
The biggest shock of Region 1 saw reigning champion #5 @mildred_and_maisie (15k) fall to #12 @showbizkitties (1k) and fan-favorite Tasso in dominant fashion, 285–173, marking one of the tournament’s first major upsets.

The 2026 Catfluence March Meowdness Tournament returns with 64 cat creators competing across four regions in a fan-voted showdown where upsets are common, Cinderella stories are inevitable, and only one cat will leave with the Catfluence Cup.

Let’s break down each region…
Region 1: The Serval Favorite Returns
Region 1 is headlined by the #1 seed @chloetheserval (815k), who enters the tournament as the top overall seed. One of the most recognizable cats on social media, Chloe’s size, personality, and massive following make the serval a perennial contender.
Despite the star power, tournament success has been elusive so far. Chloe’s best finish came in 2023 with a Sweet 16 appearance, meaning there’s still unfinished business in this bracket.
Waiting on the other side of the tournament could be another serval. @kahluathekittyy (113k) holds the #1 seed in Region 3, creating the possibility of a historic serval vs. serval Final Four showdown.
But Region 1 has plenty of challengers…

Pudgy surged in popularity during the college football season as the unofficial mascot of Bowling Green Falcons football, thanks to owner and former long snapper George Carlson. March Meowdness mirrors the excitement and schedule of the Men’s College Basketball March Madness, featuring a thrilling bracket competition among 64 cat accounts. For a detailed look at the specific timeline, please see the preview section above.
The idea for March Meowdness sprang to life in March 2020 when the traditional March Madness tournament was canceled. Finding ourselves working from home, surrounded by our cats and lacking the usual sports and entertainment options, we created our own version of the madness to enjoy with our feline friends.
The tournament will feature cat-focused accounts based in the USA, which facilitates the distribution of prizes from our generous brand sponsors. Details about these sponsors can be found below.
We strive to select participants judiciously to ensure fairness while maximizing excitement and engagement among the community.
Users cannot just submit a photo of their cat(s) from their human account – the cat(s) must have a dedicated, active IG account that can be tagged in posts and stories. Human-cat branded accounts will be considered, but if too much emphasis is made on the human over the cat, the account may not be able to enter.

This allows our followers to vote on their favorite accounts round by round. The cat account with the most votes in each poll advances to the next stage, all the way to the finals, where our ultimate winner is determined by community engagement.

Several ties have occurred throughout March Meowdness history. If this occurs, another IG story poll matchup will be posted and will run for another 24 hours. After 24 hours, a winner will be chosen. If there is another tie, this will be repeated until a winner is decided.
